AOTW: 26 Feb-3 Mar

This is probably my favorite album of the new year so far. It has a good synthy/indie rock (Panic! meets Queen meets Say Anything) sound that you’d expect from the Fueled by Ramen label. Some Nights by Fun. This is the second album of the band discography and I have listened to this album about 20 times since it was released on 21 February 2012. Songs I particularly liked were the title track “Some Nights”, “Carry On”, the single “We Are Young” and “One Foot”. This has been one hell of a week and it really helped me get through it. If the opportunity comes my way I would absolutely shell out out the cash to see them live.

AOTW: 19-25 Feb 2012

This album of the week is Sweet Sour by Band of Skulls. Released on February 21, 2012. This album is available through Zune marketplace a few days earlier. So far there are three singles from the album “Sweet Sour”, “The Devil Takes Care of His Own”, and “Bruises”, upon the first run through of the playlist it sounds like an English subpop band, I like it, gritty and yet smooth a bassy concoction.

AOTW: 12-18 Feb 2012

Hello and welcome back for this weeks edition of Album of the week, this week I have chosen The Fray: Scars and Stories. Released February 7, 2012. I hope you all enjoy it, I’ll edit this post once I formulate my opinion.

The Fray: Scars and Stories Album Art

Sorry everyone, it’s been quite a week! Navy API academics week one complete! As for Scars and Stories, I’ve really enjoyed the overall sound of the album, this album has the same feel of a good The Fray album. I particularly enjoyed the singles from the album: Heartbeat, and Run For Your Life. In addition I liked The Fighter, and Be Still. All the songs make a rainy day in Pensacola, feel not so bad, good for a bit of quiet introspection.

Nightstand Project

Hello world! So last week I spent a few hours on a neat project that may or may not interest someone. The idea behind it was I needed a nightstand, a place to charge gadgets, and lastly a lamp. So I rolled it all into one and here is the result.

My Album of the Week: 5 Feb through 11 Feb

This is my first one of these so lets try something new. This week I’ll be listening to:

Invicta by Hit the Lights Released January 31, 2012.

Invicta by Hit the Lights Cover Art

So far I’ve listened through the album a handful of times and I have to say that though I’ve never heard of the band, the second track “Gravity” is stuck in my head another good one is the eighth track “All The Weight” (pun intended), but really I do like it. If you have the chance or a Zune pass or something along those lines you should have a listen.

Site redesign!

I switched to a WordPress site, because I’m really lazy now. So this may or may not improve the chances of me updating the site, more frequently. Who knows?
